From Fire

In July 2019, a bathroom fire impacted MacKenzie and her two young children: Adara, 5; and Ricky, 3. The fire left them displaced with nowhere to go. With the help of Social Services and the Red Cross, they stayed in hotels and motels for roughly two weeks. The three of them then found family to stay with. MacKenzie was able to find a new full-time job. She was training to become the Assistant Store Manager at a local Auto Shop. Part of MacKenzie’s job was to learn everything she could about Shopmonkey, a cloud-based software program her company used. While researching, she stumbled upon Maintenance for Moms, a nonprofit started by Shopmonkey. “I read everything I could about [MFM] without losing focus on the task at hand. I bookmarked the page, and that night at home I applied. I was contacted within a few days letting me know they wanted to help me and my children with some maintenance on my little Honda CRV. I was beyond surprised and so excited!”

After her interview, MacKenzie was able to let her boss know that she was going to be helped by MFM and couldn’t believe that a software company cared so much about single moms.  Her car was then fixed and returned with all the fluids changed and her windshield replaced. “After all was said and done, MFM checked on us a few more times -  my CRV is still doing great! Thank you Maintenance for Moms! I WILL FOREVER BE THANKFUL FOR ALL YOUR TEAM HAS PROVIDED TO MY LITTLE FAMILY.”
