The Caregiver

Cynthia is a hard working mom of a 6 year old daughter with special needs. She is a caretaker both in career and personality. She constantly puts others before herself. She is a biggest advocate for her daughter as she walks with her; seeking out the best therapy and tools for her autism. Much of her day is spent taking her daughter to appointments as well as the elderly clients she cares for. Her car is a vital part of her ability to care for others well.

When Cynthia came to us she was driving a 1998 van in which she climbed through the passenger door to get into the driver's seat. She used this car well and now it was at the end of its life - we could not invest the money needed to help it pass smog and register it.  So MFM stepped in and through the donations of people like you, we purchased her a new RED hatchback. It was such a joy as we picked out this car that seemed to match her beautiful and fun personality so perfectly.

Now she is able to get her daughter to her therapy and has seen an amazing leap in her development. She was unable to speak just a year ago and is now in mainstream 1st grade and loving school. It was a joy to care for this mom who cares for so many others. Cynthia you are seen and loved.

Cynthia wrote: “Dealing with financial things, taking care of family members and of course my priority Matilda. That’s why when my van wouldn't pass smog and didn't have the funds to get it fixed or buy another car, I panicked. I became even more depressed because I was so worried how I would get Matilda to her program. Soon I had one of the MFM mechanics look at my van and it didn't look good. Once again I got really worried.  Kathryn called me and told me that they would try to start a fundraiser to raise money to buy me a car. I was so overwhelmed, I have never had strangers help me that way. Long story short I got my first new car ever. It took me a couple of weeks to realize that it was mine. Matilda loves the car so much, she calls it her car. Thank you Maintenance for Moms”.
