Painful Endurance

When the pandemic began so many lives were affected, through sickness, loss of work, kids home from school - we all faced challenges. However, when we heard the story of Enedina’s daughter we couldn’t help but weep.  Imagine, at 19, being rushed to the hospital where in the following weeks you would have to have both your arms, and both legs amputated due to severe infection. All this while your family was not allowed to visit because of COVID restrictions.

This was what happened as we met Enedina, a single mother of two girls, one in her late 20’s and her baby, just 19. Enedina, quit her job, spent every small increment of time that the hospital allowed by her daughter's side. She was finally scheduled to come home after 6 months but coming home was not as easy as it once was. She is now wheelchair bound, needing a ramp and to be lifted into the car. Enedina heard about Maintenance for Moms and reached out to see if we could help fix a van that had sat in her driveway for years.

Our mechanic looked at it and realized they had taken great care of the car and it just needed a tune up and adjustments and could be good to go. This was a miracle for this family. Enedina shared, "On September 9th our whole lives were changed forever, my youngest daughter had a tummy ache and went into the ER and just came home after 6 months in the hospital….She’s keeping her eyes on Jesus and the fact she is alive. She's staying positive and we are grateful for the help Maintenance for Moms has been to us.  They were so kind in the midst of a big traumatic event. They helped us repair my van and it's been a big blessing to know it's secure and drivable again. Thank you so much for all your kindness".

Their family is now back home and recovering and enjoying every moment that they have together on this earth. We are so thankful that we got to walk with their family during this excruciating season and get to see them out the other side.
